They depend heavily on the shepherds to feed them, protect them and to guide them right. Without the shepherd to lead them, they will get lost pretty fast and probably attacked by some hungry wolves.
We need to be sensitive to Jesus’s calling as well. We are Children of God and thus we must represent Him in a fashion that is honourable as well. But that is a tough question isn’t it: how do I know what kind of life is suiting to a good Child of God?
Jesus says in John 14: “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life…” and there is the answer. Jesus is the Way. The ‘way’ to what? Not only towards salvation, but also a model of how to live a pleasing life for God. If you want to live a life that is pleasing to God, then follow Jesus’ example.
But Shamiro, you don’t expect me to wear sackcloth, fast for 40 days and 40 nights, try to walk on water and such things, do you? I mean, Jesus is God. I cannot compete with that.
Of course not! That is not what God is expecting from you either. He wants you to follow the principles behind that things that He did and said. He wants you to fast and pray, because that will bring you a more intimate relationship with God. He wants you to talk and walk the way that He did. Not literally (all the time, because sometimes you should do it literally), but principally.
Then you will live a life that is pleasing to God. Remember just follow the path and Jesus is the way to living a truly purposeful and pleasing life.
