In Revelation 21:1-5 we read: A New Heaven and a New Earth
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”
Awesome, isn’t it? If you read further on, the bible gives you an idea of how the Holy city will look like with gold streets and walls made of the most precious stones and at some point it says: there will be no more night. For God will be our sun! Heaven is a place were there will be no more pain, suffering, sorrow. There will be no more loneliness, because we would have each other as brothers and sisters and we would have God always. There will be no more need, hunger, or poverty. There will be no more wars or death. Everything that you see now, will pass away and God will make everything new!
Doesn’t that fill you with an immense joy?! To know what awaits all of us who have put our trust in Jesus. No matter how difficult life gets, no matter if we lose everything here on Earth, Heaven awaits us and nothing can take that assurance from those you have accepted Christ within their hearts.
This is why Jesus also says that our focus should be on the things of Heaven and not on the things of this earth. Many people strife to enrich themselves, seeking pleasure in materials and other people or parties and such, but my friend, very soon, all of those things will pass away. Besides taxes, death is the only thing that is 100% guaranteed! What happens then? All of your riches, fame, so-called glory; your houses, cars, fancy yachts…all of this will stay behind. Are those things bad to have? It depends. They should never divert your focus from what is really important. A good way to test this is ask yourself: where is my heart? Where is your deepest passion based on? Is it on the things of Heaven or the things of this earth that will soon pass away? Jesus wants us to invest in Heaven and not on earth. This means that we need to be living life on earth knowing that this is our temporary home. Be prepared to move and thus focus your heart on your future home. I pray with all my heart that I get to see you in Heaven and we can talk about this same article.
